


#LOVEKNOWSNOCOLOUR is a signature campaign which aims to empower individuals to prevent and respond to racism effectively as well as uniting people of all colour. We aim to do this by providing the correct people with the tools and resources to take practical action against racism.

ABOUT
WHAT?
Racism is the idea that a certain race is superior or inferior to another, That an individuals social and moral traits are decided by his or her biological characteristics. Racism is a major issue that has existed all the way through human
history. It has been explained as the hatred one person has towards another individual because of differences such as skin colour, language, customs or any other that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person. and has influenced wars, slavery and legal codes.

TODAY
Research (NatCen) and Runnymede uncovers that 1 in 4 people in Britain admit to being prejudice towards people of other races. Other shocking statistics revealed that men are more likely than women to admit to being racially prejudice. Furthermore 33% of Conservative party supporters described themselves as racially prejudice, compared to 18% of Labour supporters.Those who voted to leave the EU were also more likely to describe themselves as racially prejudice.

One of the major issues with this is that harm is caused to those who are on the receiving end, putting individuals, communities and society at large.

Studies show that experiencing racism has large effects on both our health and welfare. These include feelings of emotion such as anger, anxiety and even depression. Where as long term effects may include withdrawal from work or education, and diminishing a persons quality of life.

Shanella is an artist, organizer, and freedom fighter from London. Since the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement, Shenella has become a powerful voice in the media. Her articles and interviews have been featured in The Guardian, and The New York Times.

NIKITA GARZA
Nikita has been active in social movements for over a decade. She is a black lesbian feminist, trainer, and strategist, living out the legacy of her ancestors. Nikita prioritises healing justice, and creating movement cultures that are collaborative and sustainable.

ANTHONY HEMPHILL
Anthony has been organising with #LOVEKNOWSNOCOLOUR since 2015.He is committed to working to create a world in which black life is protected and our collective liberation is realised.
